Clubs Give Back
The Wood County Clover Legacy Foundation was created to carry on the heritage cultivated through the Wood County 4-H Youth Development Program. The Board of Directors works with the Wood County 4-H Committee (think yummy milkshakes) to hold funds and build financial investments. The foundation provides the financial support needed to make ideas a reality. This year, in celebration of Wood County 4-H's 100th birthday, the Foundation asked clubs to conduct a member led community service activity where they took action in the community and had the opportunity to earn a $100 grant for their club. Twelve clubs participated in the Clover Legacy Give Back Program and gave "their hands to larger service" to help our community. We will be featuring their stories and photos here over the next few weeks and are so happy with all the good that came out of this program and into our community. Be sure to follow along!
Celebrating 100 years in Wood County! The 100th birthday quilt square block is a lovely addition to the landscaping at the Extension Office.
Special thanks to Mike Cranker, Donald Wilhelm and Steven Blausey of the Wood County Grounds Department, Andrew Kalmar, County Administrator, and Commissioner Doris Herringshaw for all of their assistance in the placement of the block. We would also like to once again thank the Dowling Stitch, Stir, and Stock 4-H Club, and John and Valerie Sponaugle for making special block! Stay tuned for some exciting news about our 4-H Quilt Square Trail. #100reasonswc4h |
The Power of a Shake
Wood County 4-H started serving hand-dipped milkshakes out of the former barn in 2002. After 15 years, the building had seen it fair share of repairs as well as outgrowing the space. Thousands of milkshakes were made and millions of memories for the 4-Hers and volunteers. The space served us well.
In 2016, the Wood County 4-H Committee considered the options for the milkshake barn and decided it was worth the investment to build a new milkshake barn. The brainstorming began!
The Wood County Clover Legacy Foundation was formed as a fundraising and investment organization for the Wood County 4-H Youth Development Program. Through the generosity of club members, corporate sponsors, and everyone in between, the new, well designed, and beautiful milkshake barn opened in 2017 for the Wood County Fair.
With the 4-H Committee funding over $30,000 in programs for the 4-Hers, the Wood County Clover Legacy Foundation offers the opportunity to do more for the clubs, the community, the country, and the world.
