2025 Grant Recipients

Banners and Beyond
With support from the Clover Legacy Foundation, the Banners and Beyond 4-H Club purchased a new Skillathon kit through the Inspire Kids to Do Grant—helping members turn knowledge into confidence. The club committed to deeper, hands-on learning this year, and it showed: two members placed in both the Wood County Fair Skillathon and the Ohio State Fair Skillathon, an impressive achievement for a 10-member club.Beyond individual success, the grant allowed the club to share learning with others. Banners and Beyond hosted a Skillathon Study Night on May 18th, welcoming members from three neighboring clubs. Six youth from two of those clubs attended and shared positive feedback about the collaboration and the boost it gave them before project judging. One visiting member even placed in the top five in the senior Skillathon and credited the study night for their preparation.
The club plans to continue growing the impact of this grant by hosting future study nights, inviting more clubs, and expanding learning opportunities across the county.

Beaver Creek Boosters
The Beaver Creek Boosters used their grant funds to assemble hygiene kits filled with essential items such as laundry detergent, deodorant, toothpaste, toilet paper, feminine care products, and household cleaners. These kits were donated to the Knights Have Your Back program and the Otsego Food Pantry—meeting needs often overlooked by traditional donations.
Club members also placed baskets of personal care items in restrooms at the Pratt Livestock Pavilion and the Champion/Rabbit Barn during fair week. Though the baskets were gone after the first day, the rapid use highlighted a real need in the fair community. The club continued restocking feminine hygiene products throughout the week to ensure ongoing access.
The project exceeded the original budget, and a generous club parent covered the difference. Through this experience, members learned the importance of listening to community needs, adapting, and how even small items can make a powerful impact.

Dowling Stitch, Stir, and Stock
With help from a $500 Inspire Kids To Do Grant, the Dowling Stitch, Stir, and Stock 4-H Club supported the Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Support Group. The club purchased backpacks and age-appropriate school supplies for six families, creating thoughtful and practical kits to help students begin their school year with confidence.
School supplies were more expensive than anticipated, but club members stepped up—contributing an additional $293.53 from their club account to complete the project. Youth enjoyed selecting items that they hoped would brighten a child's day, and the project reinforced the importance of generosity, teamwork, and community support.
The club extends sincere thanks for helping make this project possible.

Lake Harvesters
The Lake Harvesters 4-H Club put their "hands to larger service" by building new rabbit cage bottoms to support exhibitors in the Junior Fair. Many first-time rabbit project families are unaware that cage bottoms are recommended, which often adds stress on move-in day. The club set out to alleviate that burden and improve animal care across the barn.

Using preliminary cost estimates of $6–$8 per cage bottom, the club planned to build around 70 new cage bottoms. These improved pen bottoms will remain property of the Junior Fair, ensuring clean, safe, and reusable housing for rabbits year after year. The project strengthens the exhibitor experience and supports animal welfare for future generations. The rabbit cage bottoms will be available for the 2026 Wood County Fair.

Simply Stock
The Simply Stock 4-H Club dedicated their 2025 year to supporting older adults served by the Adult Protective Services Unit at Wood County Job and Family Services—living out the 4-H pledge to “put our hands to larger service.”

Hospital Stay Kits
Recognizing that many seniors experience frequent hospital stays, the club assembled 30 hospital stay kits filled with word searches, Sudoku books, Rubik’s cubes, and other activities to lift spirits during long days. Each kit included a handwritten note from a club member and a hand-colored picture from a Cloverbud to make it truly personal.

Cleaning Supply Kits
To support seniors living independently, the club created 20 cleaning supply kits containing essential household items. These kits also included notes and artwork to add a thoughtful, human touch.

Impact
In total, Simply Stock reached 50 seniors across Wood County. Beyond meeting practical needs, the project fostered connection, kindness, and community support. Members learned firsthand how simple acts of service can make a meaningful difference.
The club is grateful for the Clover Legacy Foundation’s commitment to youth development and looks forward to continuing meaningful service in the years ahead.
