2021 Grant Recipients

The Klassy Kids 4-H Club put together flower planters for local businesses and provided 24 flower planters to local businesses.
The club members (and even some of the parents) learned some things about flowers and planting in the process. While planting the flowers Tracy Cotterman, club advisor and member of North Baltimore Garden Club, talked to the club members a little bit about the flowers that were planted and how to properly care for each one and also how each flower helps our environment.

Lake Harvesters 4-H club helped spread mulch at Camp Palmer. There were 25 volunteers from our club and other friends that came out to help. We received 20 yards of mulch from Renewed Outdoors. While enjoying our time at camp working hard out in the sun, we got all the mulch spread evenly throughout the walkways. Camp is a fun time for all the 4-H kids to get together and sing camp songs. Now with the new mulch they will be able to walk around easier through the paths. We really appreciate Renewed Outdoors for supplying the mulch for Camp Palmer.

Colorful Clovers 4-H Club: In light of the negative economic effects of the global pandemic on Wood County, the Colorful  Clovers is planning a 4k run/walk benefit for local businesses. In addition to the financial contribution to  local businesses the event will provide community engagement and health awareness to participants,  and organizational leadership opportunities for club members who conduct the event.

Perry Go Getters purchased materials to repair bleachers at the Risingsun Youth  Ball Park. There was one particular set of bleachers that was unusable for the season. With  continued social distancing it is important to be able to utilize all the bleachers. The members deconstructed and reused a metal structure and replaced wood with pressure treated lumber. The  project will be completed with a coat of water protectant on the lumber.
Leaders of Tomorrow 4-H Club sent a monthly/bi-monthly 4-H greeting to individuals who were sheltered at home for a variety of reasons. This project will allowed them to bring some added happiness and improve the mental health of these individuals. Members of the club completed these mailings and other craft items during regularly scheduled meetings. 19 names were chosen so each member would have a “pen pal” to communicate with throughout the 4-H season.

The Clover Achievers 4-H Club decorated different sized flowerpots for residents of the Kingston Perrysburg Nursing Home. They decorated and planted flowers in both planters and small pots at a club meeting. The goal of this project was to brighten the residents' day because they have not been able to see their family and friends over the last year.
The Tontogany Hotwires 4-H Club was contacted by the Washington Township Trustees to do a community service project to help the Tontogany Rec Council. The club helped repair the bleachers and benches at the baseball diamonds. There were 4 sets of bleachers and four dugout benches that were worked on. Club members replaced broken wood on the bleachers and benches along with sanding down the chipping paint. They also painted all the bleachers and benches before helping to place them in the areas needed.
The Farmcrafters 4-H Club used funds to reach out to the community during the current pandemic. The club made custom postcards made with their Farmcrafters logo and sent out postcards to reach their loved ones, homebound citizens, and those in assisted living facilities and nursing homes. The pandemic has been hard on everyone and there are some that have had very limited contact with others in over a year. The goal of this project was to have members see the larger picture and understand how a simple gesture offers big rewards.
4-H Postal Project Covid-19 has left many individuals sheltered in their homes.  The “4-H Postal Project” is an opportunity for clubs to identify these individuals and send them a “4-H Greeting” monthly throughout the spring, summer, and beyond.
